Silstar’s latest release is an entry level baitcast reel with the traditional round body construction. Although reasonably priced it is an attractive reel with many of the latest features usually found on higher priced tackle.
The drive train has 5.1:1 gearing and two ball bearings plus an anti-reverse bearing to prevent any backward movement in the handle. The smooth drag is set by star wheel with fine click adjustment, and the handle has two soft touch grips.
Free spool is obtained by pressing the thumb rest, with the level wind remaining stationary during the cast. The gear train and level wind re-engage when the handle is turned.
There are two cast control systems. Six brake blocks in the spool reduce excessive speed during the cast, and a knurled nut under the star wheel for adjusting spindle end play that will slow the spool near the end of the cast.
